Noches de Luz

Please join us for our next evening of photography, “Noches de Luz,” Thursday, October 3, at 7 p.m. with German photographer, Stefan Falke, at El Cuarto de Luz photography gallery and arts venue in Tijuana, Mexico.

For Stefan, culture is more important than news and politics. And, with the premise that art can provide solutions to many of the world’s problems, Stefan has dedicated a good part of his career to highlight artists and their work.

He has photographed individual artists and on movie sets in Europe, Africa and the Caribbean and for the past several years has photographed artists along the U.S.-Mexico border. Most recently he started a project on artists in the bankrupt city of Detroit.

In 1999, Stefan joined the prestigious German photo agency, Laif. His work has been published internationally in numerous magazines and he frequently works as a still photographer on sets for major movie studios in Europe. His book, “Moko Jumbies,” is the culmination of a project on a stilt walking school in Trinidad and was exhibited at the Visa Pour L’Image 2004 photography festival.

Stefan currently lives in New York City.

El Cuarto de Luz is located at 4590 Av. Las Palmas, Col. Las Palmas, in Tijuana, Mexico. Take Blvd. Agua Caliente toward La Mesa and three blocks past the municipal auditorium turn right on Av. Las Palmas. Go two and a half blocks. The gallery is on the left side. Telephones (664) 287-7727 or (664) 188-2418.
