Some assignments are more colorful than others - Stamberg Aferiat + Associates

Some assignments are more colorful than others.

I had the pleasure to photograph the fabulous architects
Peter Stamberg (brown sweater) and Paul Aferiat (green sweater)
of Stamberg Aferiat + Associates in their art filled apartment in Manhattan for French 'Challenges' magazine.

Loved it !!

Peter and Paul seem to know more famous artists personally than, well, most of us.
For starters, David Hockney made a collage of them, for them (above). The ceramics (below) on the right are by Christopher Adams, a friend of the architects.

Then there is an engraving by Keith Haring and the Ruth Orkin photograph - Peter had known her since way, way back ... and photos by Robert and Edward Mapplethorpe, there is Christo and much more, all observed by
the big eye - a sculpture by Man Ray, named Le Temoin (The Witness).

And it goes on and on, in the midst of this incredibly colorful loft that makes
me almost forget the purpose for my visit.

And most importantly, Peter and Paul, what a pleasure to meet you !!

The magazine will arrive at French newsstands now.

The story - La vie en couleurs - was written by Sabine Syfuss-Arnaud.

Thank you R.E.A agency and laif - Agentur fuer Photos und Reportagen for trusting me with this assignment.
