Nightvision

I will continue my nightly searches for images in New York this winter. I am trying to create some kind of moody pictures, mostly without showing any people, because I am a people photographer and I have to try something new once in a while.

Luise Kimme Sculptures

If you ever travel to Tobago, Luise Kimme's Museum (www.luisekimme.com) must not be missed ! Luise lives and works in the museum, which she built in the late 80's and is called 'The Castle' by Tobagonians, and it is open to the public on Sundays from 12-2 pm. I met her about 20 years ago and we collaborated on many of her books and catalogues ever since. (please see my post Luise Kimme in Cuba)

It is difficult to know who is who around her sculptures, some come even more alive when their creator is nearby.

Many of the sculptures are made from German oak, which Luise Kimme purchased in Southern Germany after a field of oak trees was cut down by a storm.

Her eight dogs are not only living with her for her protection, but can often be found as subjects of her art. The one below is actually real...

New York Marathon 2006

I decided yesterday not to shoot the New York Marathon, since I had done it often enough in the past years. But when I realized this morning that they ran right by my house, I could not resist.

New York's Village Halloween Parade

My friends Sophie and Alex of superiorconcept are the 'Official Puppeteers for New York's Village Halloween Parade', the band of huge skeletons is part of their work in the parade. One of the many helping hands was artist Laura Anderson Barbata.
I am still waiting for an e mail from the Hula Hop lady below and I am glad that the spoon man does not have my address...Japanese girls in girly dresses were everywhere...

Tuesdae

Shooting a 'Lower East Side bar hopping story' with the lovely DJ/Singer/Playboy Model Tuesdae (www.tuesdae.com) for German Booklet Magazine was one of these memorable assignments that I could do 7 days a week. I met her and husband Brady Wills on their friend's roof top before we descended to places like the Lucky Chen and Arlene's Grocery, where Tuesdae took the stage with an amazing karaoke show accompanied by a live band.
