There is more to my Garfunkel & Garfunkel - Father and Son cover

There is more to my

Garfunkel & Garfunkel - Father and Son cover !!

I posted this cover before but only now did I get to see the double spreads inside the LP album and the accompanying booklet !! As I have said before, it was a great honor to shoot the cover for Art Garfunkel, one of the biggest name in music history, and his son Art Garfunkel Jr. for their wonderful father and son project. The album was released by BMG/Telamo on November 8th 2024.  More photos on my website.

A story about John Langan - the Stephen King of the Catskills

John Langan, the Stephen King of the Catskills

A few weeks ago I was on a great assignment for French Le Point magazine, published in the current issue (via LAIF/REA). I am quoting from the magazine: The American writer John Langan, Stephen King’s heir, with his book “The Fisherman”, explores a 'black ocean' hidden in the Catskills, the place of his childhood, where the dead find a second life. A masterpiece of horror.

Text by Élise Lépine (online version in French)

More photos on my website.

I loved working in the Catskills and living in New York City, the opportunity to spend a few days upstate is always welcomed. The wild scenery and the picturesque towns are a matching character in John's book, which I am only now beginning to read since there was not enough time before the assignment. I am not a fan of horror books , but having met John, I am intrigued to learn more about his work !!

Some assignments are more colorful than others - Stamberg Aferiat + Associates

Some assignments are more colorful than others.

I had the pleasure to photograph the fabulous architects
Peter Stamberg (brown sweater) and Paul Aferiat (green sweater)
of Stamberg Aferiat + Associates in their art filled apartment in Manhattan for French 'Challenges' magazine.

Loved it !!

Peter and Paul seem to know more famous artists personally than, well, most of us.
For starters, David Hockney made a collage of them, for them (above). The ceramics (below) on the right are by Christopher Adams, a friend of the architects.

Then there is an engraving by Keith Haring and the Ruth Orkin photograph - Peter had known her since way, way back ... and photos by Robert and Edward Mapplethorpe, there is Christo and much more, all observed by
the big eye - a sculpture by Man Ray, named Le Temoin (The Witness).

And it goes on and on, in the midst of this incredibly colorful loft that makes
me almost forget the purpose for my visit.

And most importantly, Peter and Paul, what a pleasure to meet you !!

The magazine will arrive at French newsstands now.

The story - La vie en couleurs - was written by Sabine Syfuss-Arnaud.

Thank you R.E.A agency and laif - Agentur fuer Photos und Reportagen for trusting me with this assignment.

A Farewell to Luise Kimme

My friend Luise Kimme moved on to another world in April. The German sculptor left an amazing amount of stunning art work for us to enjoy, most of it on view at her 'castle' in Tobago, itself a piece of art. I will miss her dearly. Over years we collaborated on many of her books and catalogues and her impact as an artist on my life was huge. She also opened my eyes for the rich culture of the nation of Trinidad & Tobago, which I visited dozens of times since 1986. My book MOKO JUMBIES: The Dancing Spirits of Trinidad only came to life because Luise Kimme introduced me to her many  friends in the islands. I am forever grateful.

Here is the article I wrote for the T&T Guardian, published last week:
