Rosa von Praunheim in New York again
I photographed German filmmaker Rosa von Praunheim in Manhattan about 20 years ago (above). The occasion was the shooting of his movie 'Survival in New York' ('Ueberleben in New York'), the lives of three German women, Claudia, Uli, and Anna, who came to New York in the 80s and survived here against all odds. This and other movies by Rosa will be shown at the Anthology Film Archives this weekend. I shot the new portrait (below) about a week ago on board the Staten Island Ferry, where Rosa was filming a new movie, more on that here soon.
