Waldemar Pokromski
Make-up artist Waldemar Pokromski is well known for his work on movies like Schindler's List, The Counterfeiters, Downfall, Perfume, The White Ribbon, The Anarchist's Wife, Klimt, The Baader Meinhof Complex and "Faust" (which just won the Golden Lion, the highest prize for best film at the Venice Film Festival 2011) to name a few from a very long list. He worked with Dustin Hoffmann, Jan Malkovic, Andre Brody, Roman Polanski, Anderzej Wajda, Steven Spielberg, Tom Tykwer und Michael Hanecke ... and many others.
I photographed him this morning when we passed Plansee in Bavaria, on our way from Schloss Linderhof to Neuschwanstein, when we stopped at this breathtaking location. I am very fortunate to be shooting the stills for the German movie "Ludwig II" because no other than Waldemar is the key make-up artist for this production. At his side works Heiner Niehues, with another impressive list of films 'under his belt'.
"Ludwig II" is directed by Marie Noelle and Peter Sehr ("The Anarchist's Wife"), DOP is Oscar nominee Christian Berger; leading the cast as King Ludwig II is the very talented newcomer Sabin Tambrea. Produced by Bavaria Pictures a.o., distribution by Warner Bros Germany.
Too bad I cannot publish photos from the film and Waldemar's work with the actors until it opens next year ... stay tuned !
