A recent trip to Europe left me with even more umbrella images. They just creep into my camera. I don't know what to do with them yet. They keep coming... more images of my Umbrella Series click here

Havana Umbrellas

In Cuba for a book project with Tobago based sculptor Luise Kimme last week, I used my spare time in Havana to shoot more umbrella images. Not an easy task, there are not that many people carrying them, although in this incredible heat it makes perfect sense to be under its shade...




...but after walking miles and miles through this unreal city of crumbled houses and old cars for about three days my collection grew. I don't know why I am into shooting umbrellas these days. But I am having a ball doing it. Reason enough.

New York Umbrellas

I did not let yesterday's cold and rain get to me and instead took pictures of umbrellas at Union Square, trying to shoot a series for another blog, HelloNewYork - HelloHamburg. In only half an hour I had a real nice collection ... I guess a project is born ...
